What this site is

medpaymap.com, operated by Daniel Beese (a sole trader in the United Kingdom, trading as Nomedic), provides free calculators that estimate and compare doctor take-home pay between the UK and Australian states. It exists to give doctors a clearer picture when weighing up where to work.

The figures are estimates

We build these tools carefully, using published sources — NHS pay circulars, Australian state enterprise agreements and awards, and published tax rates. We cite our sources in the tools. But you should treat every number as indicative, not exact, because:

Pay scales, tax rates, pension contributions, and exchange rates change — sometimes between when we update the tool and when you use it.
Individual circumstances vary enormously: your actual roster, penalty rates, salary packaging, student loans, pension choices, and tax position will differ from any model.
Some figures — particularly for countries and states outside the UK and South Australia — are sourced from surveys and secondary data and are less precise.
This is a beta product and may contain errors. We’d genuinely like to hear about them.

Your real pay is whatever your employment contract and payslip say. If our figures and your contract disagree, your contract is right.

You use these tools and rely on their output at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, decision, or action taken on the basis of information from this site. Nothing here creates a professional relationship between us.

If you give us your email, how we handle it is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: we use it only for what you asked for and, with your consent, occasional updates — and you can opt out any time.

Fair use

You’re welcome to use these tools personally and to share links to them. Please don’t scrape, copy, or republish the underlying data or code as your own, or use the site in any way that’s unlawful or that could damage the service for others.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
